Bug ID: 429195
Summary: Issues trying to load remote files thru network
protocols
Product: kompare
Version: 4.1.3
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: kompare-devel at kde.org
Reporter: rafael.linux.user at gmail.com
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
I need to work day by day with text files located in remote machines (ftp, smb
and fish protocols). I was using KDiff3 without problems, but I saw some
screenshots of Kompare I wanted to give it a try. However, each time I try to
compare remote files (using FTP) at first place, is seems Kompare let me choose
remote files correctly. If after browse and select a file, I click again in
"Select archive" a error message window showing "file_name is an archive, but a
folder was expected" (that have no sense, cause I clicked in "Compare files").
Anyway, user can select both files to compare, and try to compare, but files
are not loaded and process of loaded doesn't begin never.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click "Compare archives (files)"
2. In "Origin (source)" type a valid ftp path to browse, then click "Select
file"
3. In the selection windows, select a text file
4. Back on files selection window, click again in "Select file"
5. An error window showing "(name_of_file_you_selected) is a file (archive),
but a folder was expected"
6. Click "Accept" and repeat step 3
7. In the "Select file" window, in the path, the "name_of_file_you_selected"
appears like if it were a folder (but it's not)
OBSERVED RESULT
No way to compare remote files
EXPECTED RESULT
To show remote files like KDiff3 does.
