Konstantin, your proposed fix does not work:
1. The "Next" click which previously triggered the crash now causes the file
list not to get updated even though the diff view moves on to a new file.
2. With a bit more moving back and forth, I still got it to crash! The
backtrace is the same (except for the line offset from the added NULL check), I
presume that currentFile is now invalid rather than NULL.

The problem is more complicated than just a missing NULL check.
