In this (unrelated) screenshot of the KMyMoneys AqBanking Edit Account dialog
there is the option "Prefer Statement Download as CAMT":
https://discuss.kde.org/t/kmymoney-create-a-bank-withdrawal-to-send-money-to-iban-account/4287/5

And I've found some AqBanking online documentation:
| ungesetzt: beim Umsatzabruf wird das veraltete MT90 verwendet
| gesetzt: beim Umsatzabruf wird eine zeitgemäße xml Datei angefordert
https://www.aquamaniac.de/rdm/projects/aqbanking/wiki/Account-flags#preferCamtDownload

For Sparkassen and Volksbanken, in the best practice section of the changes
needed for PSD2 some years ago, CAMT is enabled:
https://www.aquamaniac.de/rdm/projects/aqbanking/wiki/SetupPinTan#best-practice

You can just try to enable this flag. If your bank doesn't support it,
AqBanking should fall back to SWIFT. However, you'll get duplicates because of
the limited SWIFT format.

Regarding EBICS I'm pretty confident:
https://www.ebics.de/de/datenformate/format-lifecycle

And the Sparkassen (Finanz Informatik) mention both FinTS and EBICS:
https://www.ksk-koeln.de/fi/home/produkte/banking-und-software/weitere-services/formatabkuendigung.html

CAMT should make the life much easier because there is more well structured
information that can be directly extracted.
