I do not believe that anything has yet been done specifically for this  
issue, or the other related bug I linked to the one you filed.  My  
suspicion, without digging any deeper right now is that this relates to  
the different handling of tags on splits and tags on transactions -  
most likely things like reports only account for tags on transactions,  
not tags on splits.  Also, any work on this is likely to be done in  
master branch of the source, meaning it will not show up an appimages  
compiled from the 5.1 branch, as the version you mention.  The  
developers do know this is important, but I believe the current effort  
is primarily on being able to release a production version from master  
branch, which is currently to be called 5.2.  I do not know if this  
will be fixed by then, nor if any fix will be backported to 5.1.x.  Any  
such fix, however, will definitely be announced here, and to those two  
bugs.
