Yes I did!  I actually started with applying tags on each individual
splits, and seeing they didnt show up anywhere I tried applying a
random tag to the entire transaction which worked, showed up in
reports and in tags section of the program (although the amount
reported is the sum of all splits)...

If I apply multiple tags in the entire transaction the transaction
shows up multiple times under each of the assigned tags with the sum
of all splits....

Is this clear or should I provide a case scenario for better clarity?

In a nut shell, tags applied to splits do not work.
I'll see if I can replicate the issue, but if you can create a small
.kmy file that shows it, it would be very helpful.  I can imagine that
reports look for tags in transactions but not in splits, but I don't
know the code, so a small example would be great.

Hello Jack,

See attached.  I created a new kmy file, and simulated a transaction
with 4 splits, each with different tags.  I also created a report
called "TRANSACTIONS BY TAG FOR TEST".  You will see the program
returns [No Tag] instead of the actual tags, and although the report
is configured to group by tags, it does not.

Thanks!
