I do not believe it is currently possible to adjust the widths in any  
of the table-like displays.  There is actually already a bug  
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382111) filed for this issue.   
What version are you using, and what distro?

Have you tried chaning your default system font, just to see if the  
issue gets better or worse?  It might help with the troubleshooting.
