I'm sorry not to have been able to respond earlier.  I'm afraid it does 
look as though your file is beyond hope.  I hope it won't be too much 
trouble to recover from your last backup.

I'm still trying to find a possible explanation, if not in total, at 
least to come up with some idea about where or how the corruption occurred.
