You mention two different releases.  Does that imply two different PCs?

If so, compare the quote settings under Settings/Configure KMM/Online 
Quotes.

I'm on Mint12 (UK) but don't use Finance:Quote.  When I click on 
Finance:Quote I get an error message -

"Can't locate object method "new" via package "Finance::Quote" at 
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kmymoney/misc/financequote.pl line 72."

Try running KMM from the command line - 'kmymoney' and see if you get 
that and/or any other messages.

Is libfinance-quotehist-perl actually installed?
