problem with tax report

How?  I can try creating a brand new file with similar transactions,  
but I doubt that will show the problem.  I can slowly try to delete all  
irrelevant (other) accounts and categories and hope the problem  
remains, but that will be a slow process given the size of my data  
file.  I suppose I can try editing the xml file, copying into a new  
file only the pieces relevant to those transactions.  Any other  
suggestions for a not too painful way to do this?
