Well, since my investment broker has now stopped providing any download except
csv, I'm trying to import a csv file.  After choosing the rows to only include
rows with real data, the Columns page looked OK, but the Formats kept insisting
invalid format in column 1 (date) for any of the three formats (for which y-d-m
is clearly the right one.)  This was with banking format (OK for this
particular data since there were no investment transactions.)  I couldn't use
the investment format since the bank didn't provide sufficient data columns. 
The formats page had red background for all header and footer rows plus all of
column 1 - so I'm not sure what it's actually complaining about.  I don't know
how soon I'll have time to run under a debugger to see if I can tell what it's
thinking, although perhaps I can add some debug output.
