I think the main problem here is not ideas on how to implement it, but lack of
available developer time.  This is basically a "nice to have" as desirable as
it is for some users.  The change of importance to HI was done by the bug
janitor - probably as a result of additional votes.  Unfortunately, I don't
think the actual priority is any higher.  As is often said, patches gratefully
accepted.
