5.0.8 was released over two years ago; there is not much the team can do to
support that version.  If you can't find a more recent package for MATE
(current version is 5.1.2, released last June) you can try an appimage: see
https://kmymoney.org/appimage.html for instructions and download.  Let us know
if you still get a crash with a more recent version.
