In reviewing this, I can add two suggestions -
First, if you are looking at the register for a category, ane way to go back to
the ledger for an account is to select a single transaction and then right
click. The context menu has options to go to the ledger either for the account
of that transaction or to the payee for that transaction.
Second, if you click the account dropdown at the top of the ledger, you can
actually select the same account you had previously been showing, and it will
show the ledger for that account. It is a known bug that that dropdown still
shows the name of the previous account shown in the ledger and does not show
the name of the category currently being displayed.
Again - there is no filter to clear. A category is treated internally as an
account, so you really do need to switch to showing the ledger for a different
