Temporary patch to force password dialog and debug output

Can you apply the attached patch and check the output on the console? It should
print a line like

  secure = "??"

I am interested in the details of the ??-part. After applying the patch and
building it will ask for a password. If that does not happen, I expect a
problem with the installation of the plugins on your machine.
