Are you sure it didn'tsave your changes?  It may not be obvious, but I think
changes to report configuration are saved automatically, and the report is
saved with some indication of "modified" or "custom" in the name, unless you
explicitly change the name.  I know it's not necessarily obvious, but please
check whether that's what's actually happening.
