You may be the first KMM user on Wayland, at least the first who has posted
about it.  I don't know if it makes any difference, but please let us know what
Distro you are on, what KDE versions (Frameworks, Apps, Wayland.)  I assume you
would have mentioned if you had similar problems with any other applications. 
Attaching a screen shot of the initial window might also be helpful.
