Why does KMM think this category is closed?

Per my message about the (now apparently fixed) issue with accounts
with odd online mapping status, this issue (below) is still happening,
and it seems to be for the end of month interest transactions for one
of my Merrill Lynch investment accounts, starting in January. (ML
marks these as Dividends, and KMM imports them as _Dividends unless it
matches somehow to an old transaction, which I THINK it used to do, but
of course am no longer certain.)

My main question is how can a category be closed? There is no GUI way
I can find to open or close it, and the file has no indication it is
closed.

At the moment, I'm needing to manually download the OFX file and either
exclude the last day of the month, or manually remove those
transactions.

What else can I do to troubleshoot?
