What I mentioned above was wrong. The crash can be reproduced independent of
the account and whether it is a new or an old file:

1) On an older installation I updated to kubuntu 17.10, everything is fine
2) On a new installation of kubuntu 17.10, KMyMoney crashes depending on the
BIC I enter. If I choose a random BIC such as AKBDEDEF, it works. If I enter a
correct one such as GENODEM1DOR, KMyMoney crashes.
3) Moreover, I noticed that on the new installation, KMyMoney does not suggest
BICs if I start entering. 

Id there a tool, library, etc. missing?
