Sorry, I haven't been able to see the matching problem consistently; it's still
there, but it's hard to find examples.  

I did find one thing that might be a clue: In the "Payees" section, for each
particular payee there's a "Matching" tab, and a setting for "Match on a name
listed below", with a configurable list of names.  This didn't work the last
time I imported, even though the payee name and the amount of the transaction
were the same. 

Could there be a mismatch between this setting and the one for online update
where you can use PAYEEID, NAME, or MEMO fields as the imported name?
