Bug ID: 321156
Summary: When i try to use the backup function from the File
menu I get an error message "Error copying File to
Device".
Classification: Unclassified
Product: kmymoney4
Version: unspecified
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: kmymoney-devel at kde.org
Reporter: joe_beall at shaw.ca
I have been using KMyMoney in various versions since 2009 without any major
issues. The current problem started last month (May/13) while I was running
Mint 11. My backup procedure is to use the Backup selection from the File
menu, selecting a folder in my Documents directory as the destination. I then
would copy the session's data file by drag-and-drop over to a folder on an
external hard drive, so there was a "double backup" so to speak. I started
getting error messages ("Error Copying File") if I tried to copy a second
session in the same day over to the hard drive. Before this happened I would
simply be asked if I wanted to replace the old file with the new one and I
would select "Replace" and this is how it worked for years. I then started
getting the error message mentioned in the Summary above and have tried
changing the destination folder to something different but nothing changes. I
then decided to get rid of Mint 11 and install Ubuntu starting with 11.04 and
upgrading to 12.04 and in the process reinstalling KMyMoney and using my last
good data file from my secure backup on the external hard drive. The results
are the same as before as stated in the Summary.
Reproducible: Always
