Well you seem to have found the right place.

KMyMoney is a KDE application (www.kde.org) which means that to
develop KMyMoney we use the KDE platform and recommend using KMyMoney
with KDE for best user experience. This does not mean though that
KMyMoney can't be used with different desktop environments/platforms
(Gnome/Xfce as DEs and Mac/Windows as platforms). In these cases it
will not be as straight forward as by using KDE to customize things
like visual appearance, locale settings, etc.

All your data is stored in a compressed xml file (on in an SQL DB) on
*your* disk. If you choose to encrypt that file you have the option to
encrypt it with a key belonging to Thomas (the project manager) in
case you loose your own key. But this is only an option see the manual
[1] for more details.

It's *b* '4.6.2 for your Windows PC'. You need to know that on Windows
the packages (a new version of the application) will not be available
as fast as on Linux and Mac. This is because we rely on the KDE on
Windows project to build KMyMoney for Windows and that project (like
ours) is currently in a, let's say, "slower pace of development". But
I would recommend trying the Windows version while keeping in mind
that it's not as polished as it should, maybe with more users we can
improve that.

Yes they are available.

> a. I saw the one for KBanking to apparently allow for account downloads from the banks. This was something always quirky with Quicken and produced more screwups to correct than help. I have accounts at 4 different banks. All but one provide comma delimited CSV downloads. Is that what the KBanking does? Or is it through Quicken files.

KMyMoney has the following online banking plugins:
- KBanking for the HBCI protocol (mostly used in Germany)
- OfxDirrectConnect for OFX interfaces

KMyMoney can also import CSV files but, again, the Windows version
contains a pretty old version of the importer (which has been lately
under active development).

> b. By the way as Feedback I think allowing CSV updates would be a great idea. Even if not directly into the KMyMoney program there could be a simple form to cut and paste the data into the correct columns and then import into KMyMoney. Probably too complex for many users but I would like it.
