Allan,

I've already deleted the bugzilla message which included both comment 8  
and the status change.  Also, lok at the bug history.  It's pretty  
clear to me it happened as part of comment 8 (same timestamp) which is  
why I think it is either a bug in bugzilla, or the UI isn't obvious  
enough about showing you that's what's going to happen as part of  
committing your comment.
