It is possible.  I don't know if just changing the language to English would
compile the English documentation instead.  Otherwise, I don't remember the
necessary option to cmake to tell it to not do the manual, but if you do
'ccmake .' instead of 'ccmake ..' you get a GUI where you can set all the build
parameters and can turn off those for the handbook.
