This is a KDE feature that definitely works for me.

Drag the KMM window  to the side, far enough for the pointer to reach the edge.
 As it gets there, a quarter screen-size window outline appears.  Release the
left button and you get a resized KMM window which you can then resize to your
requirements.  That's if you drag the title bar;  if you drag the window body
using the alt key as well, you get a half width window instead.
