KMM 4.6.2 on Windows XP SP3

The last column to the right in a view becomes grossly oversized (4 or 5 inches wide) if you reduce the other columns to a reasonable size to accommodate the below listed data. The last column appears to be pegged to the right margin of the window. The column slider in the header is visible at the right margin but refuses to do anything. It should slide the column margin to the left so as to reduce the width of the column and leave "white space" between the right-most column and the right margin of the window.

I have attached a typical screenshot showing the appearance of such a view. Mighty hard to read. In some cases I have moved a column like VAT (unused) to the right-most position as a work around. But sometimes I need all of the columns.
