This could solve the problem but I haven't been able to test it since I could
not reproduce the crash

Could you try this patch? I haven't been able to crash KMyMoney while entering
transactions for a long time (In think since the 4.5 series was released) so I
can't tell what is the exact problem and if this patch fixes it but it's worth
giving it a try.
BTW I also have Qt 4.7.2 + KDE 4.6.2 running + KMyMoney from SVN trunk.
