Actually, I've found that it's pretty hard to navigate bug lists and 
mailing lists for the average user. Problem is too much information and 
to be able to sift through it you have to know what to look for (often 
that implies knowing the programmers' slang).
What I was thinking of is something like Fedora's errata page (e.g. 
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F15_bugs). It lists in plain 
English two dozen or so common bugs for the given version. Users can 
quickly check it for the bug they're struggling with, before reporting 
to bug tracker, etc.

As for leaving it until the new version - Fedora 15 (current) for some 
reason isn't even updating to 4.6.0. Even if you release the new fixed 
version today, they might not push it out until F16, several months 
later. Worse yet, lots of users don't always update to the latest distro 
and get left behind
