Answering my own query.

Yes, something does now appear to have changed.  I'm on svn1123617.

Originally, when I imported a bank statement which contained the dividend
payment, and that dividend had not then been entered as an investment item, on
entering the investment, both entries appeared in the current account but
manual matching was ignored, and I had to match via v1.03.

Now, by magic, when I do the import with no investment item to match against,
it is actually performing the investment transaction activity for me.  No
matching needed, it just happens.  Thank you, Anon!
