From an accounting standpoint, categories are accounts. The parent account for 
them is either Income or Expense. If I pay rent with cash, then there is a 
debit on the Rent account and a credit on my Cash account.

While KMM uses a double-entry system, that is mostly abstracted away from the 
user by using the concept of categories.

Maybe the explanation needs to be clearer, and possibly the labels need to 
change also. I can see how it could be confusing to a user.
