I bet you don't use many KDE applications, do you?
KMyMoney uses the settings configured for KDE applications. 
You can do that from an application called "Systemsettings". If you are using a
Gnome desktop (eg. Ubuntu or similar), you will most likely have to install it
first. Then, set your locale settings for KDE, restart KMyMoney, and that's it.
