So, GSOC 2019 will be a thing! I would like to invite everyone to start
thinking of interesting projects to add to the ideas page, and I would like to
especially invite students who have had only one summer of code project to
propose something!

Hello Mentors, I hope things are going well for you if you are
participating in GCi. I'm finding it a bit frustrating (as usual) but am
chatting with a few fine students as well.

GSoC 2019 has been announced, so it is time to begin thinking about project
ideas. We found out at the Mentor Summit that changes are ahead, and that
decisions about whether and/or how to conduct 2020 are up in the air. If
this is the last "GSoC as we know it" -- let's make it the best ever!

Please read our rules and let's talk about any changes needed. I've seen
that every time we raise our standards, we get fewer but better proposals,
and on the whole, better students and better outcomes. Do you agree?

I'll create a new empty Ideas page for now - please add new or re-used
ideas as you think of them, and be sure to add yourself (and others) as
mentors and how to contact you and the team at the bottom of each idea
along with the mail list and other team contacts for each team. I'll carry
over those that are there; please check them for accuracy.

All the best,

Valorie
