Hi everyone,

This month, on the Italian magazine "Linux Pro" [0], there is an interesting 6 pages review comparing 5 open source software to edit images.
Linux Pro is highly widespread in Italy (you can buy it everywhere and every month there is a new issue).

To make it short, the contest was about: Krita, Gimp, Pinta, Inkscape, MyPaint.

They compared the:
- Multi-platform support (Windows, Linux etc);
- Editing of text (Titles etc);

- Interface (how  "productive" and easy to grasp it is);
- Video Animation (e.g. Gap plugin for Gimp);
- Easiness of the tweaking related to the Gui (group widgets together and so on);

- Macro - plugins (e.g. Script-Fu for Gimp);
- Documentation.

The final winner is....  Krita :-)

Naturally, this comparison is probably *quite* subjective (surely *every* one of these software has its powerful and unique features).

As for me, in all truth, I have thought the natural winner to *edit image* was likely to be Gimp. In addition, most of the past articles on Linux Pro were about Gimp itself. To my surprise, they judged Gimp a bit too complicated to use.

In conclusion,  I deem rewarding to see krita recognized as a worthy application to work with :-)

Best regards,

Silvio Grosso
