release status update

Hi!

Beta2 was a bit of a broken beta, we all know that, which is why I didn't advertise it on krita.org. But we're in a pretty good shape now!

Next week, Beta3 will be tagged. After that, November 18 is the day RC1 is tagged. That means that, in principle, by November 18 we should be ready to release a 2.4 we are happy with, have every confidence in and feel good in ourselves about...

Here's a short summary of the current state of releasability:

* unittests: no failures anymore!
* splash: we have a number of great splashes, but more might be coming.
* resources (patterns, palettes, gradients, brush tips): done, we use GPS by Ramon Miranda here
* presets: animtim is working on a set we can install by default
* dvd+comic: both have been ordered and are paid for. Weekend of November 4, Animtim will come to Deventer and do the dedications, while Irina and I will do the envelope stuffing. We can present this as our "manual"...
* Visual tour: Animtim created one, but it might need a bit of updating already...

* critical bugs:

I will take the transparency mask one, maybe this weekend when I travel to Munich I will have time to work on it. Lukas is working on the upscaling bug.

* other bugs:

There are 100 other bugs left! 1 grave, 4 major, 19 crashes and a host of other bugs. I propose to close bugs with an attached workaround (like 264958) as "later" or "reminds". Let nobody feel hesistant when picking one of these bugs and fixing it...

* regressions:

-> big, bad one: installing a preset with GHNS gives an API error! Srikanth, please take a look!

* nice to have:

-> we should port all tools and actions to the strokes framework once Dmitry has finished his simple howto.

* disabled for 2.4:

Currently disabled are:
 
 - mypaint paintop
 - painterly framework
 - bracketing to hdr

What else needs to be disabled? The extension manager in the tools menu maybe?



Is there anything else I forgot about the release?
