Did something break with the selection?

Ok... I cleaned my build and compiled the HEAD of recent master.
After a bit of testing i found out that the selection seems to work 
perfectly fine with a RGBA 8Bit color space
and that everything that is related to selection doesn't work anymore 
when using a RGBA 16bit color space.
I don't know if this broke or simply nobody noticed but it would be nice 
if someone could fix
because I recently started using 16bit (it has really visible benefits 
over 8bit, especially for smudging and airbrushing).
