With GIMP lacking in terms of brush engine and MyPaint having no
selections or transparency locking and lots of other things I need at
some point, Krita looks like it could become my tool of choice. It's
certainly impressive and heading in the right direction.
Testing a recent SVN version, what spoiled the fun for me right after
performance issues (which could be just the build), was picking colors.
I sometimes need to pick and paint repeatedly to smooth things out. The
fastest way I found was switching tools with P and B key. That breaks
GIMP (and AFAIR Photoshop) allow temporary switching to the color picker
from any paint tool by holding Ctrl. MyPaint has picking a color bound
to a key (R), making it a single action instead of a tool. Would you
please consider to implement one of these approaches?
