autosave file not recognized

Krita autosaves pretty regularly, so that when it crashes (it never happens, 
honest, guv!), you can retrieve part of your work. But since some time, Krita 
pops up a dialog asking for the filetype instead of recognizing it, I guess 
because of the suffix. I was wondering whether this is a krita bug or a kde 
bug -- does anyone know? This whole area is a bit of closed book to me.
