I have not seen the evidence you must be thinking off, and I have seen plenty 
of evidence to the contrary. I have spoken with plenty of painters that like 
krita for just krita. Many really don't care its part of KOffice.
So, your assertion in answering seems wrong. You assert that people need to be 
convinced to ignore KOffice.  Look at the search terms in the stats on 
koffice.org, look at the amount of times people go to krita. Look at the sites 
that link to us that call us in one breath with Photoshop, gimp etc.
I think its fighting windmills for a large part since there is a great market 
out there. I won't deny there are people that likely say krita is not on their 
radar, naturally.
So what about focusing on getting enthusiastic users out of the group that 
like krita for what it is. Thats your stepping stone to getting more artists 
and soon you've conquered the world :)

Keep repeating that in forums, slashdot, blogs etc.
Its a bad meme we have to kill.  Counter it with the correct meme in any way 
you can.
