We used to have rather good scaling. Did the degradation happen when we moved
from a specialized scaling visitor to the generic transform visitor? Carsten
did report a bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137166. Somehow, with
some scaling filters, the resulting paint device is transparent although the
color channels are ok.
