Well for size, I think id should be stable, so if we have "LABA" (for 16bits), 
and then later add "LABA8" (for 8bits) we will need to rename LABA in LABA16.

As for type, it become a problem, we have RGB16 for integer RGB on 16bits, and 
we have allready RGB16F for halffloat.
