Also, I've done a pretty extensive search for convolution in the past few
days, and I've never found a place where per-channel convolution kernels were
actually used. On the other hand, I found quite a few references to bigger
kernels than 3x3.
Of course, some specific color strategies might want to create a filter that
only perturbs a specific channel (say, the water content), so we might have to
add a channel-specific applyMatrix at one time.
