Well, turning bits of Krita into a lib is quite likely to happen eventually so 
if it's not done, I will do it anyway :)  When I start to do it, I will 
probably privately fork it and hack on it until I'm happy and then try to 
merge upstream with you.  API stability is not important because most likely 
I will distribute a copy/fork of the Krita library in KolourPaint until 
stability happens.
