You're right that that was the cause but the real problem was that 
setInputDevice was being called in the KisView constructor when it 
didn't need to. I've just committed a fix to correct that. The code in 
setinputDevice is still needed for when you do change from the mouse to 
a tablet device so that they can have their own tool settings.
