Scaling and resizing of images

I've just created a new plugin for the scaling and resizing of images (and 
later layers) -- haven't done the actual scaling code yet, because this 
dialog already took most of today. One problem: I don't recall whether the 
old image resize dialog ever worked, but the same code sure doesn't work when
called from my nice new plugin... Time for a trip back cvs' memory lane, I 
think.
