Checkin

[Boudewijn Rempt]

I just checked my changes in, hoping that I've not screwed up or something. In 
addition to the changes I posted about before, I've added methods to pass 
colours, gradients, brushes and patterns to tools, and the test tools I'm 
playing with now support at least the changes in colour.
