No. My comment was slightly inaccurate. It only restricts repainting of 
tiled-backgrounds to the exposed area.

The reason it helps is probably because the general repaint-clip has been 
disabled somewhere because repaints outside it was needed. Unfortunately I 
don't know exactly where or why.
