patches: many performance improvements

You are a very beautiful man my friend (i'm not all that good at 
complementing people, as you can probably see, but this one seems to 
work on everyone in movies). 

In case anyone cares the status of those in head is as follows:

client-dict.patch.txt - more or less merged (less because we don't have 
Walker). KGuys should we merge the walker?

element-by-id-hashtable.patch.txt - Maciej wyglada, ze ten diff to jest 
wlasciwie lazy-listener.patch.txt. Jest jeszcze jakas szansa na 
dostanie oryginalu? Bylbym wiecznie twoj... poza wtorkami, czwartkami i 
weekendami bo wtedy jestem kogo innego ;)

GetElementByIDPatch.txt - element-by-id-hashtable.patch.txt would be 
useful in order to merge this one, 

js-listener-hash.patch.txt - it's in,

lazy-listener.patch.txt - our version attached. David, I tried to 
combine our patches with this one. Can you review it for yours truly? 

multi-notify.patch.txt - we can't merge it. the idea is right on and we 
should think about a more general solution.
