Nah, you got it right, but did it really fix anything? If you'd have a 
testcase that would of course help immensly :)
What happens on our side is that first both SearchEntity and 
NumericSearch increase the cbufferpos so when we're in the hexadecimal 
we also have the 8 char limit so I don't see what would break that 
codepath.
