The main problem here is that KGet froze, the other aspect is just a side
effect that working around would most likely be too much work with hardly any
gain.

It would be great, if you could find a way to reproduce the initial problem.
Also please add more information e.g.: How long did you wait before killing the
app. When did it freeze --> at the beginning of the download, at the end ...

If we can track down the initial problem we can try to fix it.
