This still happens with version 0.8.5 which is part of KDE 3.5.0.

I have just downloaded the Windows version of OpenOffice, during which time KGet was consuming 99% of my CPU - despite having closed its window. Now the download has complete, it is still using 99% of my cpu to do nothing...
