BTW, "wget --limit-rate=500" downloads at 500 bytes per second and the effect 
on my 28K connection is not perceiveable even when working over an SSH 
connection contending for the same bandwidth.  1 KB/s is perceivable however.

I can't wait to see this work in kget :)
